I wore this shirt because it’s Thursday. Every Thursday, a group of Holy Cross students (a few seen in picture with me) come and visit Hope Lodge. They are part of Holy Cross’s “Student Programs for Urban Development” program which provides service to the Worcester community at places like Hope Lodge, soup kitchens, and nursing homes.
They come and share stories with the guests, play board games, and sometimes are daring enough to try my cooking. The most popular game we play is Apples to Apples, which provides many laughs whether you are winning, losing, or just watching. It also provides many times for many pokes at the intelligence of both HC and BC students and grads. Tonight was one of the lucky nights when the “Dave’s Ass” card was played (some of the cards are blank and one of my friends had made this years ago), and of course, was the winner.
I also had the joy of beginning the “Great Dave Giveaway” tonight. I had a strobe light and disco ball that had been collecting dust and figured they would be better served at a Holy Cross party. Not a bad way to end my work week. Now if only the Bruins can pull this one off…
you cook?
